Placement Programs

Best Suited For:
At-risk youth, ages 10-17, who are experiencing difficulty in their surroundings and require a structured program in which they can learn ways of dealing with their issues.
The ultimate goal for the four programs listed below is to reunite each child with their primary
care taker.

1.  Emergency Placement Program (EPP)
This program is intended to meet the needs of the parents and child in crisis and to avert hospital placement. EPP provides a safe and secure temporary home. The child will receive counseling, structure, and support in a caring atmosphere from professional staff for up to
14 days while a team of people work with the family toward a safe, productive disposition.

2.  Emergency Care Program (ECP)
In response to round-the-clock emergency care, CHJC offers group emergency care for up to 30 days. These children are identified as requiring immediate care which is either unavailable in or beyond the scope of regular foster care homes. ECP provides a stable, caring environment while referring agencies work with the courts and family to provide a more suitable solution.

3.  30/60 Day Diagnostic Program
This program comprehensively assesses and makes recommendations as to the appropriate level of placement based on the child ’s individual needs. Recommendations are made with the assistance of the following tools:

Group Functioning Intellectual Evaluation Psychiatric Evaluation
Psychological Evaluation Medical Evaluation Art Therapy Evaluation
Behavioral Assessment Family/Home Assessment

Recreational Assessment

Sex Offender Assessment Drug & Alcohol Evaluation

4.  Residential/Long Term Care Program
This program is designed to provide rehabilitation, direction ,and the skills and opportunities for successful functioning in the community. The residential program enhances the development of interpersonal relationships that are nurturing and honest, in an atmosphere of security, positive reinforcement, and perseverance. We regard the child's recovery as a re-education process in which we strive to overcome the resistance to change while substituting more appropriate responses within the context of the child's life.

Staffing
This program is supervised 24 hours a day,7 days a week with trained childcare workers. They work together as a team providing a non-punitive environment that emphasizes social skills, social conscience development, peer group processes, and working on individual issues with the residents.

Cottage Program
Youth live and function as a group in the cottage. The cottage program consists of a comprehensive program of rules, expectations, responsibilities, and incentives for doing well. Residents have the ability to move to higher levels of responsibilities based on positive peer interaction and behavior.

Behavior Modification Program
This modification program contains incentives and rewards for positive and appropriate behavior. It allows the children to take more responsibility for
their actions and to achieve a high level of positive behavior through
privileges earned.

Over-Night, Off-Campus, and Weekend Family Visits
All children have the opportunity to have overnight, off-campus, and weekend family visits with positive behavior. This provides the child and family the opportunity of working with each other on issues that need to be resolved prior to discharge. This is an integral part of the program.

Caseworker Availability
Each child has a caseworker assigned to them that provides individual and group counseling, maintains weekly contact with their parents, and constantly monitors their individual needs and goals. This ensures that each child's needs are met.
