Education Program

The ultimate goal of the Education Program is to help each child improve his/her academic standing through a structured education program.

Public School

All residents attend school in the Watertown School District. In this school setting they can form positive relationships with peers and authority figures, enhance their education, and work on social skills with the community.

Director of Education

The Director of Education monitors each child’s academic progress while working closely with the public schools to establish school programs that meet each child's needs. This ensures each child’s individual school needs are met so they can achieve their educational goals.

School Liaison

CHJC has two full-time School Intervention Workers who work in the school and support the children who may be experiencing difficulty in the school setting.

Afternoon Tutoring

A state certified teacher is available, on the CHJC campus, during the school week to assist the residents with any school work. This allows the child to improve on subjects they are having difficulty with.

Off-Campus Educational Field Trips

We believe children need to be educated at school and home. Since CHJC is the child’s temporary home, we provide many resources for the child to learn out of the school setting. These may include trips to the library, educational tours at places of work, or having the residents participate in our life skills program.

Life Skills

The Life Skills Program is an interactive program designed to assist residents in daily living skills. The program focuses on issues like building positive self-esteem to gain employment. Examples of subjects in the curriculum are: cooking, employment, health, and nutrition. This program benefits the children by helping them become independent and prepared for life in the community.
