Direct Care Staff

Part-time positions open for responsible adults to be role models for youth ages 10-17.  Minimum requirements are a high school diploma and a valid NYS driver’s license with a good driving record. We are looking for individuals with proven leadership abilities who can help teach, mentor and interact with adolescents.  Must have a positive attitude and be self-motivated. Starting salary is $11.11 to $12.22 per hour depending on education.  Applicants must be able to work evenings, weekends and overnights. 

 

The Children’s Home of Jefferson County has exciting opportunities for the following full-time positions for its new community outpatient mental health clinic. The Community Clinic of Jefferson County is a new outpatient mental health clinic that is in the process of becoming one of the best and most innovative clinics in the North Country and is looking to set the standard for quality of care as well as employee engagement and retention.


Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

Provides psychiatric assessment, diagnosis and treatment for mental health patients. Performs a wide range of mental health services, including patient assessments, medical histories, treatment plans, psychiatric diagnosis, medication management, and managing ongoing care. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, successful completion of an accredited Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) program, with emphasis in psychiatric care, and Licensure as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) and registered by the NYS Board of Nursing.

Psychiatrist

Provides professional psychiatric services for patients in a psychiatric program, exercising independent professional judgment. Work performed under the administrative direction of the Medical Director. Renders psychiatric diagnostic services for patients, utilizing the contributions of the clinical counselors and other professional staff; participates in treatment planning and the intake and screening process of patients as needed; may be required to provide after hours emergency psychiatric services; provides medication therapy to patients; conducts conferences with staff regarding recommendations for the clinical treatment of patients; functions as a leader of an interdisciplinary treatment team; provides referral information to alternate placement facilities; participates in the in-service training of professional staff; participates in educational community activities to further community knowledge in the detection and prevention of psychiatric disorders; prepares evaluation and progress notes on patients and related clinical reports; may provide medical/legal examinations and appear as an expert witness in court proceedings. Applicant must have a current license to practice medicine issued by the New York State Department of Education; a valid certificate in psychiatry issued by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology; three years of formal or supervised training in an inpatient or outpatient mental health program and one additional year of clinical experience.

Clinical Supervisor

Responsible for the oversight of clinical staff assigned, while managing the successful execution of the Agency’s policies, procedures, practices, standards and program-based systems.  The Clinical Supervisor is responsible for identifying the treatment needs of the clients and making sure they are met in accordance with Agency policies, procedures, state and federal guidelines and regulations.  Responsible for the direct supervision and training of the clinicians; responsible for monitoring job performance to ensure the enforcement of all policies, procedures and programs.  This is done through quality assurance, and maintaining daily contact with staff; assists staff in developing a comprehensive treatment plan in accordance with office of mental health standards; provides clinical input and facilitates treatment planning conference; facilitates pick-up orders and coordinates patient mental health hospitalizations; mediates issues that arise among clients, and staff; ensures therapeutic groups are implemented; provides linkage with appropriate community resources by maintaining knowledge of other systems; making referrals, and identifying unmet needs; works closely with community-based programs; will carry a caseload of clients as assigned by the Director of Clinical Service; and will do testing (applies only to a licensed psychologist).  Applicant must be a NYS Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or a NYS Licensed Psychologist.  Prior experience working with mental health population and prior management and administration experience required. 

Licensed Mental Health Clinician

Responsible for providing comprehensive clinical services to clients and their families. This includes providing individual, family, group therapies, crisis intervention, advocacy, assessment, planning, and discharge planning and interdisciplinary teamwork. Responsible for formulating and implementing appropriate treatment strategies for clients and their families on their assigned caseload and for timely and satisfactory documentation of all treatment efforts.  This person also performs intakes, interviews new patients to obtain information and identify mental and social problems and refers to the psychiatrist if appropriate.  Makes referrals to a variety of health, social and educational agencies and facilities to arrange for supportive services for clients.  Applicant must be licensed by the New York State Department of Education as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC).  Full-time position.

Job Openings in St. Lawrence County

Caseworkers

Full-time caseworkers for our Therapeutic Foster Care Program in St. Lawrence County. Duties include but are not limited to: coordinating case management needs for children and families, providing ongoing supportive counseling during placement, developing and maintaining working relationships with local schools to ensure a positive education and experience for each child, representing the Children’s Home as a liaison with various private as well as public service providers and resource agencies, preparing placement & discharge summaries, writing treatment & crisis management plans, attending court proceedings, teaching independent living classes, and participating in the crisis response on-call rotation.  Minimum requirements are a Bachelors Degree in a human service field with at least two years experience working with at-risk youth & their families. Experience in casework services, working with culturally diverse families, developing treatment plans and strength-based assessments, CORE and Connections training will be a plus.  Excellent time management and communication (verbal & written) skills are essential for this position.  Applicants must reside in St. Lawrence County and be able to work flexible hours.  Salary commensurate with education and experience. 

Home Finders

Full-time Home Finders for our Therapeutic Foster Care Program in St. Lawrence County. An Associates Degree in a human service field is required with at least two years experience working with youth and their families.  A Bachelor’s degree is preferred. Duties include recruiting, interviewing, evaluating and certifying prospective foster parents; facilitating consultations, conducting home studies; inspecting and strengthening  certified foster homes; handling administrative paperwork; scheduling and facilitating trainings, and participating in the crisis response on-call rotation This position requires someone who is responsible, personable, and well organized.  Applicants must reside in St. Lawrence County and be able to work a flexible schedule when needed.

Counselors

Full-time counselors for our Therapeutic Foster Care Program in St. Lawrence County. A Licensed Master Social Worker or a Licensed Mental Health Counselor is required.   The major responsibilities of this position include providing individual and group counseling to children and adolescents; developing a therapeutic treatment plan for individual caseload; providing clinical input in a team setting via staff meetings; treatment team meetings; and service plan reviews; and participating in the crisis response on-call  rotation.  Strong clinical skills, proficient time management and communication skills are essential for this position.  Applicants must reside in St. Lawrence County and be able to work a flexible schedule when needed.   CASAC certification will be a plus.
