Clinical Services

Best Suited For:
At-risk youth, ages 10-17, who are placed
in the care of The Children ’s Home.
The goal of Clinical Services is to assist all at-risk youth in emotional development through specialized individual and group counseling

Individual Counseling
Individual sessions address the issues that brought the child into placement. This allows the child to understand his/her behavior.

Aggression Replacement Training
"ART " is ongoing training in social skills, anger management, and moral reasoning. Groups are held in the cottages and skills are reinforced in the home and school. "ART " promotes pro-social competencies and interpersonal skills.

Grief and Loss Therapy
Group therapy identifies significant losses and abandonment issues and the impact they have on the child. This therapy promotes the grieving process, and the development of coping strategies for dealing with loss.

Empowerment Group
This session involves the child practicing life skills, community-based activities, and relaxation techniques. This increases the child ’s self-esteem and confidence, and promotes
self-exploration and personal goal setting.

Art Therapy
This treatment modality includes painting, drawing, sculpturing, collaging, and mask- making. Art therapy is a gateway for children who have difficulty verbalizing.

Sex Offender Treatment
This is individual and group therapy that requires the child to take responsibility for his/her offenses, understand his/her offense cycle, and gain empathy for his/her victim.
