Clinical
Services
All children placed in the Residential Program receive intensive
clinical services. Each are assigned an individual therapist, in addition
to their caseworker, on campus. Every child receives at least one hour
of Individual Therapy each week, one hour of Anger Management in a group
setting, and additional group treatment based on individual needs. All
family members are invited, and strongly encouraged to participate in
Family Therapy as well.
Grief and Loss Group
Identifies significant losses and abandonment issues, and the impact
they have on the child’s functioning. This group promotes the grieving
process and the development of coping strategies for dealing with loss.
Domestic Violence Group
Identifies characteristics common in children raised in a home with domestic
violence. This group promotes insight into the impact of domestic violence
on thinking patterns and coping skills, as well as preventing the cycle
of violence from continuing.
Art Therapy
Art Therapy is available on an individual and group basis. This treatment
modality includes painting, drawing, sculpting, collage and mask-making.
Art Therapy is a gateway for children who have difficulty verbalizing,
and is a valuable tool for gaining insight into behaviors.
Sex Offender Treatment
Individual and Group Therapy that promotes healthy sexuality, insight
into sexually aggressive behaviors, taking responsibility for offending
others and relapse prevention strategies. Guardians are given training,
developed by the Kempe Institute, on how to supervise sexually aggressive
children.
Empowerment Group
Interactive, dynamic treatment which engages the child in activities
designed to promote self-esteem and improve coping skills. Sessions vary
greatly but focus on identifying strengths, talents and interests that
the child can expound upon.
